Book Review: Memorable Moments in My Life by Jose O. Padron

Today’s post is a quick book review of Jose O. Padron’s autobiography entitled, “Memorable Moments in My Life.” I must admit that I wouldn’t have thought in a million years that I’d be writing a book review on a cigar website.

A few months before his passing, Jose O. Padron, founder of Padron Cigars, published his memoirs. Writing a book was a lifelong goal of Padron. One of his heroes was Jose Marti, Cuba’s liberator, who said, “There are three things that each person should do in his lifetime: plant a tree, have a child and write a book.” This book is a fascinating look at his life. It is an untraditional memoir in that it is a collection of key events in his life versus a typical chronological autobiography. In the book, Padron discusses the Cuban Revolution, starting Padron in Miami, establishing the company three different times in Nicaragua after some truly trying times, his efforts to obtain the release of Cuban political prisoners, attempts on his life, and how the cigar boom impacted his business. He also discusses his views on making cigars, running a company, and how to treat your customers, employees, and family. It is a great book for any cigar aficionado.

The book itself is a work of art. No expense was spared in the printing. The book includes full-color photos, inserts, a ribbon to mark your page, pictures of awards Padron received, reproductions of letters sent by Cigar Aficionado magazine and others. The book is over 300 pages and weighs in at over three pounds! The book continues the Padron legacy of the finest works of art, whether cigars or an autobiography.

100% of the proceeds from the sale of the book benefit The Padron Family Foundation’s charitable programs supporting education and healthcare.

The book is available in both English and Spanish.

This book is only available on the Padron website HERE.

c.gar loves all things cigar-related. He typically falls in love with cigars that are discontinued shortly thereafter. His first cigar was a Swisher Sweet with a wood tip. Sadly, these are still in production.
