Source: I received this cigar as part of the booty I obtained while attending CigarFest 2010.

Propaganda: The AVO No. 9 is one of the cigars in Avo Cigars’ classic series.  Avo Cigars describes the classic series in the following manner.  “The cigars in the AVO Classic series are indeed the classics among the Cigars in Perfect Harmony.  It was with this composition that Avo Uvezian in 1988 celebrated his highly successful debut as a cigar composer in the New World.  Available in four choice formats, the cigars in the AVO Classic series are remarkable for the exceptionally harmonious intonation of their blend and develop an aroma that is both mild and delicately spicy. The AVO Classic No. 9 and AVO Classic Robusto are both available in a tube, guaranteeing optimum protection for this most musical Classic cigar.”

Look: The cigar came in a tan colored cigar tube.  When I removed the cigar from the tube I was amazed at the quality of the wrapper.  There were minimal veins and the wrapper was a beautiful natural color. This cigar was a piece of art.  The ash was on the lighter side and was quite firm throughout the smoke.

Feel: The cigar had a couple of soft spots but the draw was perfect.

Smell: Prior to lighting, the AVO No. 9 has a mild tobacco leaf smell with no prominent odors.  After lighting the cigar, the AVO No. 9 put off a mild cigar smell that had a slightly sweet odor to it.  It was rather pleasant to smell.

Taste: While Avo Cigars identifies this cigar as medium bodied, it is more on the low end of medium or on the high end of mild.  The cigar had a pleasant taste with no residual bite.  This cigar would be excellent at breakfast or as an after dinner treat.

Rating: B+.  This is a fine cigar suitable for your average cigar smoker.  Avo Cigars makes fine quality cigars and this cigar is no exception.
